Food and Medicinal Uses:

Strengthens teeth, bones, hair, and nails.

Treats bladder and kidney problems, and stomach issues.

Stops bleeding and has disinfectant properties.

Other Uses:

The cell walls of xémxem stems contain silica, and the stems were used like sandpaper for polishing, smoothing, and sharpening carved wood, and even bone. Also used for cleaning and scrubbing.
