Food and Medicinal Uses:

Xaweqál is a styptic (stops bleeding), pain killer, and anaesthetic.

Also a sedative, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory.

Used to treat burns, boils and sores, insect bites, earaches, eye strain, back and leg aches, colds and fevers, diarrhea, and urinary tract infections.

Other Uses:

Xaweqál stems and leaves Can be rubbed directly onto the skin as an insect repellent, but causes spots to appear.
