Food and Medicinal Uses:

Nuts are harvested in  August-September.

Has astringent properties.

Treats hives, sores, wounds and cuts, colds, fevers, diarrhea, vomiting, and cramps.

Other Uses:

Shoots were sometimes peeled and twisted together to make rope.
