Food and Medicinal Uses:

Schí:ya eaten fresh in May-June, and dried whole or mashed and formed into cakes.

Makes good tea.

 

Excellent source of vitamin C.

Diarrhea medicine, as well as treatment for kidney and stomach problems.

Disinfectant for cuts and sores.

 

CAUTION: WIlted leaves contain toxins. Some people may be allergic to schí:ya and develop hives or a rash.
